ImageMotion computing announced its latest semi-rugged tablet PC today called the F5 tablet. The system is described as a balance between a commercial PC and a fully-rugged system not needed in all work environments.

The F5 is intended for use in mobile work forces, manufacturing, government and construction. The machine is powered by Intel Centrino Core Solo processors and is IP54 rated for dust and moisture.

The tablet uses a magnesium frame, View Anywhere outdoor display and a built-in handle. The hard drive is shock mounted and has an accelerometer to detect drops. Options include a 32Gb SanDisk SSD drive and digital cameras, RFID and bar code scanners. The machine runs on Windows XP Tablet or Vista Business. The system will retail for $2600 to $4000.
