Several web browsers today come loaded with features which enable users to block or disable online advertising. But none of them comes with such features activated by default (if we ignore the pop-up blocking which is now default in a couple of them). Internet Explorer 8 is expected to come with a new feature named InPrivate Blocking which could end up blocking advertising. Microsoft said that they did not design this feature to block advertising but it does stop tracking “pixels” or pieces of code in ads which records too much information about the web user. Privacy experts are happy with this future enhancement but this could be bad news for web publishers and advertisers. |
