Burnout Paradise Speeding Onto PSN This Fall

ImageCould this be the start of a new trend involving more digital downloads of full titles? Some analysts actually believe the entire industry will go downloadable within the next 5-10 years, so perhaps this is the start of that...

There are already several full games available for download on the PlayStation Store, but they're all online-oriented (Warhawk, the upcoming SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation), big demos (Gran Turismo 5: Prologue), or small, arcade-style titles (flOw, Bionic Commando Rearmed, etc.). But what about games that are already on store shelves? According to GameSpot, Criterion Games has revealed that Burnout Paradise will make its way to the PSN in downloadable form this fall. It'll cost you half what it costs in the brick and mortar stores ($29.99), and will feature "all of the free updates that Criterion has released throughout the year." This should also include the motorcycles that are coming with a free update next month.

As far as we know, this is the exact same game (with all the current updates) for half the price. We're not sure if other companies have a mind to do this, but it might not be much longer before you have an option of disc or download for many video games out there. It's a brave new world.
